This model kit represents the prototype well, it is etched on 0.018 brass for the loco and tender body. The loco and tender chassis are etched on 0.028" brass and the cylinders, valve gear, connecting and coupling rods are etched on 0.018" nickel silver. The boiler is made from tube cut to length for you with an etched overlay for the smoke box. The firebox is made up from two end plates slotted onto an inner tabbed fold up section. Two outer wrappers finish it off with holes for washout plugs and hand rails. The firebox unit is fitted to the footplate with slots and tabs to ensure correct alignment.

The cab is furnished with an etched backhead and surround onto which fits cast white metal casting's. An etched regulator and hand wheels are also supplied. A cast reversing gear with an etched stand is also included along with cast "bar stool" seats. A fall plate between the loco to tender is provided along with a coupling bar.

Rivet detail is provided on all the main parts, these rivet positions are etched as pop marks. This gives the builder the option to pop them out or not as the early loco's were quite shy of rivets in some areas. The assembly is designed to be soldered together using 180, 145 and 70 degree solder. Crucial parts are located by the slot and tab method, this makes sure of correct alignment and ease of assembly. The loco and tender chassis can be compensated if required, all the parts being included in the kit. A full set of sandboxes are included so that builders can make an early or late version. Etched balance weights are provided for the loco wheels along with etched springs and brake gear which follows prototype practice.

The tender supplied can be made up for a flush riveted type or a fully riveted type with or without coal rails. We have also provided two types of front bulkhead so you can make an early tender or one with walk through coal doors. Sprung buffers with steel heads and brass stocks are supplied along with wire, tube, nuts, screws, bearings and hand rail knobs. We have also included some parts for the Lentz valve gear. These include a rear cylinder plate, modified motion plates and reversing gear cover. These parts are offered to assist model makers who wish to produce this type of locomotive. No other parts are available from us for this type of valve gear.

A comprehensive set of instructions on how to assemble the model are all included, however, this does not include instructions for the Lentz valve gear. As usual all the wire, tube, screws and handrail knobs are supplied, all in a box large enough to house the completed model.
