JOHN'S MODEL RAILWAY SHOWCASE OF
Gauge '0' (7mm = 1 foot scale)

L.M.S. 4P 4-4-0 COMPOUND WITH FOWLER TENDER
Deeley tenders also available

This Locomotive kit is etched on 0.018" brass for the loco and tender body and 0.028" N/S for the loco chassis and 0.028 brass for the tender chassis. The cylinders, connecting rods and coupling rods are etched on 0.018" nickel silver. The kit is designed to be soldered together using 180/145 degree solder for the main parts and 70 degree low melt solder for the small detail parts. A bonding agent of your choice can be used to secure the white metal casting's if preferred.

The chassis is assembled using the slot and tab method, it has ample spacers for rigidity and large bearings for the axles to run in. Double layered etched springs give strength and detail to both sides and the brake shoes embrace the brake arms as on the prototype. The brake detail follows our usual practice for L.M.S. loco's having etched pull rods, it can also be adjusted for wheel clearance. Two cast brake cylinders are also supplied complete with the necessary rods which attach to the brake arms.

The steam cylinders are etched and have been designed for removal from the body for maintenance purposes along with the motion plates. The slide bars are etched on nickel silver along with the crosshead, the piston rod is made from a N/S rod. White metal casting's have been supplied for the cylinder end covers along with cast sand boxes and fillers. We have also supplied etched balance weights for the driving wheels which could be glued in position.

A cast white metal chimney is supplied, along with a dome safety valve smoke box door, also included is a brass whistle to enhance the model, all other casting's are in white metal. The sturdy tender can be built with or without the side panel, with or without rivet detail. It also has two types of front bulkhead, giving the option of coal doors.
