JOHN'S MODEL RAILWAY SHOWCASE OF
Gauge '0' (7mm = 1 foot scale)

L.M.S. 4F 0-6-0
Fowler Freight Locomotive

This locomotive kit is etched on 0.018" for the body and 0.028" brass for the chassis, the coupling rods of course are etched on 0.018" N/S. The kit has been designed to cover the numerous variations of this class of loco. The cab has separate side panels which allows for more cab variations, see your photo's of the prototype. We have also included two types of splashers, beaded or plain, and rivet detail provided on the footplate, buffer beams and the cab. This rivet detail has to be "popped out" by the builder, giving the option of a flush sided or riveted cab side. The boiler is a tube which is cut to length for you, the smoke box has the inner wrapper fitted. An etched overlay is supplied with rivet detail which has to be "popped out" by the builder. The cab has our standard backhead and wheel boxes also a cast screw reversing set is included.

The chassis can be made up rigid or compensated as required all the parts are supplied, it also has etched brake gear, springs and balance weights. The coupling rods are etched on nickel silver and are jointed for smooth running. An extra etched spacer is supplied which can be used to support a motor (of your choice, not supplied) and cast sand boxes complete the chassis fittings. All fittings are cast in white metal except the whistle which is brass, the buffers are sprung and have brass bodies and steel heads. Boiler fittings supplied are the L.M.S. type but Midland type can be supplied if preferred. The locomotive kit can be supplied with a Fowler tender as shown or a Johnson flared top tender with coal rails, see below.

No. 44560 built by Mr. Kennedy No. 4027 built by Mr. Watson Fowler tender Built by Mr Watson

The sturdy tender can be built with or without the side panel, with or without rivet detail. It also has two types of front bulkhead, giving the option of coal doors. Separate half round beading is supplied for the side and rear of the tank. White metal casting's for the brake standard, dome and water filler are included, along with the axle boxes which are plastic. The chassis is a separate unit and can also be compensated on two axles if required, all parts being supplied. The tender chassis also has etched brake arms, shoes and brake rods.

J.M. also produce a kit for the Johnson flared top Tender. The tender body on this unit is etched on 0.028" brass and has the beading etched on the side. White metal casting's for the water filler and side pockets, the axle boxes are plastic. Two types of coal rail are supplied and three different front bulkheads The chassis is a separate unit the same as for the standard tender as described above. The kit comes with wire, tube, handrail knobs, screws and nuts and a comprehensive set of assembly instructions all in a box large enough to house the finished locomotive. No picture of this model at present, but the Tender on our 3F 0-6-0 is the same.

Using this kit with all these variations available, you should be able to build the 4F 0-6-0 of your choice.

Note - This kit requires wheels, motor, vac. pipes and screw couplings to complete.
