A brass whistle is supplied, but all other boiler fittings and casting's are in white metal. An etched pole reverse set and a cast backhead with separate cast fittings are included for the cab, along with a fall plate to fit between the loco and tender.
The loco chassis is assembled by the slot and tab method and should be soldered together, ample spacers are supplied for strength. Etched springs and brake gear are included along with cast sand boxes. The chassis can be built rigid or compensated if required, all the parts are supplied in the kit, and generous wheel bearings for the axles to run in are also included. The tender chassis is of the same construction as the loco, it too can also be compensated and has etched brake gear, it is a separate unit from the tender body.
The Johnson 3250 gallon tender body has the beading and side frames etched on the side and rear body panels. Three types of front bulkhead are supplied and two types of coal rail included so that one of the various tender types can be built, sprung buffers with steel heads and brass bodies are supplied in the kit.
